Since its opening in August 2025, the HCCC has been hosting activities for the community. Our past events included the following:
October Bottle Drive: Thank you to Beaver Enviro depot for hosting and helping, to Sobey’s for their sponsorship of the BBQ and the Herring Cove Community for donating their recyclables.
Pub & Trivia Night: Thank you to Heather LeBlanc and her team of volunteers. Thanks to The Rope Loft Restaurant for the wings and supplies, the two cooks in the kitchen, David Williams and Joe Wilson, and also Matt Conrad for hosting the trivia.
Music Jam: The HCCC’s first Music Jam was held November 9th. We had almost 20 musicians and singers and about 75 spectators. It was a huge success. Thank you to Judy Smith for organizing and to our team of volunteers who helped it happen.
November Winter Cove Craft Fair: It was organized by Brian Larter and Heather LeBlanc and was very well attended all day long. We had over 25 vendors, who also kindly provided a sample of their wares to the Vendor Donation Raffle, which was won by Beth Moulton. We had delicious chili made by Ed and Rhonda Bowdridge, our kitchen cooks that day.
December Holiday Sing Along & Winter Clothing Drive: The sing along was led by the following enthusiastic singers; Pat Blakie, Daphne Hogan, Chris Hogan, Peggy Hogan, Susan Newman-Bennet, Liz Gordon and Nancy Lawrence. That same afternoon, the clothing drive was spearheaded by Katt Evans and Dana Blanchard. It was a very generous community who came out and donated clothes and money for those in need.

January String Band & Fundraiser: We kicked off 2026 with a fundraiser for a street sign for the Centre. This was made possible by The Purcell’s Cove String Band who volunteered their time and tunes. Eric Slone, Mike O’Hara, Peter Gravel, and Doug Van Hemessen played to a sold out crowd and Scott MacDonald was the band's sound technician. We hope the band will come again in the future! We cannot forget to thank Mike from Now We’re Cooking for a generous discount on the pizza for the event.

Updates
A new laneway was installed to the left side of the building, to allow us access to the parking area at the back of the building. This parking area will help us accommodate large events at the centre. Many thanks to Evan Ryno of Rexo Construction.

The HCCC sends its thanks to all the people who donated to the community centre these past months, but special gratitude goes to the following supporters:
Patty Cuttell, Deputy Mayor
Brendan Maguire, MLA
Rob Wilson, MLA
Justin MacGillvray, CFA
Canadian Tire generously donated a Christmas tree and dishes.
Julie Robichaud is donating her time to teach mat and chair yoga classes which sold out in two days and are now back in February by popular demand.
DKI Proper Care donated much of their time and equipment to work on the building and grounds.
Fred and Lynn O'Hearn donated some sorely needed coat racks for the centre.
Notes of Interest

⚠️CAUTION⚠️: If you are using the back entrance at the centre, please be aware of the snow on milder days. It may slide off the solar panels at the doorway in the back so we highly recommend using the front doors for entry to the Centre whenever there is lots of snow on the roof.
VOLUNTEERING:
We are always looking for helping hands. There are many roles that can be filled by our community. Please contact Stephanie Patey to inquire about volunteer opportunities: spatey@hccommunity.ca. There are roles for everyone!
For More Info:

We live in a beautiful place, have wonderful, dedicated volunteers, a brand new Centre, and a very giving community. We know that many new and wonderful memories will be made in our Community as a result.
